    HELP SAVE THE COUNTRYSIDE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
AND ALL THE ANIMALS THAT LIVE THERE!!!!
    DEADLINE: TUESDAY 4th MAY!!!

CAN YOU HELP SAVE KINNOULL HILL, AN AREA OF IMMENSE BEAUTIFUL LANDSCAPE IN PERTH, SCOTLAND?

The environmental catastrophe in the Gulf of Mexico is a reminder that we have only one earth to protect, preserve and care for. I contend that to live a healthy life, we must have a healthy environment. I just took my kids to see the children’s movie Furry Vengeance, starring Brendan Fraser and Brooke Shields. The film highlights the issues of overdevelopment of our sacred lands. I have joined my own plight to preserve sacred lands of the area surrounding Kinnoull Hill, an area of outstanding beauty on the banks of the town where I grew up in Perth Scotland. I am asking for your help, each and every one of my face book friends.

If you just send a simple email to Perth town Council, it can have an immense impact on the immediate situation. A group of wealthy developers are proposing to destroy the entire natural habitat in this area in order to build more new homes in an area where more new homes are not needed.
Please take a look at the true natural beauty of this area which is home to deer, squirrels, ravens, jays and vistas of spectacular hills. The development company proposes to destroy it all.

There are three remaining fields in this area that are wild, rugged, natural green space and beautiful. There are all kinds of wildlife and rare birds in these fields. There are many trees too.
A major developer is trying to change the usage of the land in order to build houses on this land. At the moment, this land is considered an area of great landscape value. Let’s stop the paving over of natural beauty and the destruction of the habitats of our wildlife.

A quick email from you to the Perth town council could stop this disastrous plan.

Please send a letter today as tomorrow is the deadline. And please ask your friends to do the same.

All it takes is one email and a few words. It could save the countryside and all the wildlife in this area. All you have to say is the following:

    I object to application number:
    10/00514/IPL
    Land East Of Bellwood Park

    Email your objections to:

    DevelopmentManagement@pkc.gov.uk

I really want someone to highlight the practice of having animals in circuses. Back when I was a kid, I went to circuses where it was all plates spun on sticks and clowns, and now theres regularly posters for a travelling circuses with a bengal tiger and a white tiger. It just makes me so angry, because it is truly unnecessary. The reason I want it highlighted is because not many people understand the implications of having these 'cuddly' big cats in these travelling performances. The containment, travelling conditions and training of these animals is disgusting. Even at its most ethical, its still unacceptable, whether the animals were born in captivity or in the wild. They just dont get the space and the conditions that they require, its sick. Ban the use of animals in Circuses!

I'd like to see something done about owners who let their dogs roam free. It's a massive problem where I live because people like we're in the countryside so their dogs are "safe". They aren't, there are still cars, other dogs and all the other dangers. Not to mention their dogs are fouling on pavements and no one is there to clear it up.

I have three dogs and would never, ever let them out on their own. Owners need to be made to understand the responsibility of owning a dog - they can't walk themselves. Maybe if they were fined the fouling penalty every time their dog is out they would think twice.

I strongly agree with preciousjules about the owning of animals. I'd go as far as to say that if these teenagers/young "adults" are found to be abusing animals in any way at all it should be treated the same way as harming another human being. We had a group of kids on our estate going round calling themselves "cat killers" and were doing unimaginable things to cats. They were dealt with - unfortunately not by the proper authorities, but they stopped and those of us with cats sleep a little sounder (personally I'm glad my cat doesn't go out - she's very much a house cat!).

I think people in general need to get to grips with the fact that animals DO matter.

It has been well researched and proven that some young people who abuse animals grow into violent abusive adults. For this reason alone, the laws on animal abuse have to be stricter. In general a fine or slap on the wrist is no deterrent, at the very least the abuser should be banned from keeping any animals, period. What is the point of taking an abused animal or animals away from their abuser, bring them back to health only to be given back after a court case. Anyone found to be abusing or causing abuse should have it put on their criminal record, no matter what the severity of abuse.
A criminal bureau check is done when adults work with/around children so why cant something similar be done when people work with animals. Why not introduce an Animal Abuse record where such incidents can be added. How hard can that be to implement?

I support all & any charity trying to protect animals in the UK & abroad. I have been a RSPCA member for years and i will carry on doing all i can to protect animals. I own dogs & horses, including 4 adopted horses in the UK and 2 in the states. I couldn't imagine my life without any of them!!

I just want all animals to be treated with respect & kindness, nothing more than they deserve from birth till death. I consider myself to be along the lines of a non-violent animal activist and do my best to help charity's either by donating money/goods/food, writing letters etc..
When hearing of abusive stories all animal lovers cringe but by far the worst is seeing it for yourself.
I am appalled at the horrific undercover video's on You Tube depicting abuse to:
    1.Factory farm animals
    2.Circus animals
    3.Transportation of live animals
    4.Fur Industry
    5.Whaling & seal hunts
    6.Trophy sports
    7.Horse race industry
    8.Greyhound racing
    9.Culling of street animals abroad
    10.Horse Slaughter
    11. Laboratory animals
    12.Animals forced to fight others
    13.Bull fighting & Rodeo
    etc. etc. etc.
Each video i watch leaves me feeling physically sick at the abuse that goes on in all the above areas, most i have to watch with no audio for obvious reasons. Why then do i torture myself by watching them? so that i can help by whatever means possible to educate others. Ignorance is bliss so they say but i don't want to be ignorant when it comes to animal cruelty. It has to stop and we have to be the voice of the voiceless. I can not and will never comprehend how callous some people can be to intentionally cause pain to any animal especially when the abuser enjoys it. Those that do were obviously born without the gene that causes most of us to be animal lovers.

Some of the most viscous acts of cruelty caught by undercover video i have seen are by far those that work in factory farming. These sadistic workers even supervisor and management intentionally injure and torture the animals in their care. All the while laughing, taunting and egging each other on to carry out despicable barbaric acts of cruelty. Now, if it weren't for undercover video we would all be blissfully unaware. As it is, the lid needs blowing off and people need to see just what is happening. Instead of keeping it under cover and only disclosing to certain area's i.e the web, these video's need to be aired by all manner of media no matter how upsetting they are, its the only way to get the attention needed to act accordingly.

Veggie Libby, I understand what you mean about people joking when you raise the issue. It happens a lot. I try not to let it bug me because I don't intend to shut up. Surely they will eventually ask themselves the question seriously if they are not totally heartless in every area of life?! People can bve so affectionate towards a dog, but surely it is 'crocodile love' (as opposed to crocodile tears!) if they'd prefer to spend a couple of quid less just so they can have 'cruelest meat' instead of 'least cruel meat!'

I am in favour of detailed labelling of all animal products. If an animal has been caged, spent its whole life indoors, suffered hunger or thirst in transport, lived in an environment which deprived it of being able to behave normally, or was killed in frightening circumstances, or any of the common and legal but cruel practices it should be so labelled on the outside of the product's packageing. It is fine for good practice to be used as advertising, such as freedom foods, but let's be honest about the misery suffered by the vast majority of intensively farmed animals and inform the supermarket-hipnotised public.

I would like to express my disgust at the way I was treated when enquiring how to adopt an animal. I seen a picture of two dogs who needed a home, and went to the Hillingdon branch of RSPCA, where I was asked to fill in an form. On completion she asked me how long the animal would be left on his own, I said about an hour, I was then asked if I worked, when told no, I was long term disability, I was promptly told in front of everyone in the waiting room that they preferred people to be working. I was left feeling totally humiliated. I cannot believe an organisation like yourselves, who are always asking for help, would turn down an offer of a loving home for an animal, I understand the concern of vet bills etc, but was not even given a chance to say that I would have insurance.

I will be contacting the National and local papers to inform them of this, and to make sure other people do not suffer the embarrassment of trying to help the RSPCA. Also your staff there are rude and obnoxious and I certainly will not be returning.

So bottom line of this is, because of your rules and rude staff, a dog has lost the chance of a loving home and may stay in the kennels for some months.

    Yours faithfully

    Catherine Dinita

I would also like to see live animal transport banned!
You people may want your meat fresh but there is a limit how crawl you can be to a animal!
People may think "Oh its just a pig!" but I used to have 2 of my own and they are lovely clever animals and have feelings and can be lonely scared and frighten like every other living thing!

I would really like to see an improvement!
    Thankyou.

Firstly I am vegeterian and considering becoming a vegan.
I do alot for the good of animals producing powerpoints to show my colleagues and fellow workers, it angers me the way people dont take it seriously! Like its some joke!

I focus mainly on the topic of animal testing. I have researched it and do not understand the good it does. Yes, medicine is tested but why do herbal essences test on animals?

And mars? How can you test a chocolate bar on a animal? This question I am often asked.

I dont know why mars and herbal essences ect are doing this but I understand it must stop!

I advise you to follow these links as I found horrifying yet a lesson to be learned:

    www.HurtfulEssences.com (read)

    Thankyou!

It is my belief that the time has come to re-introduce some form of dog licence. I call for this not to penalise dog owners, of which I am one, but to promote responsible ownership and dog welfare.

We need to re-evaluate society's attitude to animals. Currently, this supposedly dog loving nation, has allowed our best friend to be abused, abandoned and maltreated. This has to stop and it has to stop now.

All dogs, for a nominal fee (say £10 per annum) should be licensed, microchipped and be made to wear a collar and tag. This will enable us to reunite stray/lost dogs with their owners and also allow us to hold to account those that abandon their animals.

The money raised, by a conservative estimate that would be some £80m per year, would NOT go to the government but would instead got to the RSPCA and the Dogs Trust. The money could then be used to help pay for and run the shelters, homing centres etc that we currently fund from donations. (I know that both of these organisations pride themselves on their charitable status but the time has come for some central funding)

Furthermore, I would like to see the introduction of legislation regarding Animal Cruelty. This would not replace existing legislation but would instead increase the penalties for animal abuse. My aim here is to see a minimum sentance brought in to replace the current ownership bans and pathetic fines. Under my law any offence of animal cruelty (including abandonment) would carry a MINIMUM sentance of five years imprisonment. Rising to life imprisonment for the more severe cases.
