At the moment I'm concerned about Fox-hunting, which is still legal in Northern Ireland - which has meant that since the ban across the water - every hunter and his dog has been coming over here to terrorise our poor foxes. Now the Green Party has introduced a bid in our Assembly to try and ban it here - but many people in this province, probably as a result of the dominating effect of 'the Troubles' are a little slow to 'get' the whole animal welfare 'thing'. I would like to try and help this bid to success - but am not really sure how. We do have the USPCA over here - but it only really has a small presence on the East of the province and falls down in many eyes b/c of the 'Ulster' association with one side of the 'community' here and so its not really well placed to campaign for anything. Now - the likelihood is that a lot of people over here may object to the 'Royal' - in the RSPCA's title but nevertheless - this org has so much campaign experience and could help...
    Advice please?

All the serious physical harm and abandoning issues should be put forwards because its becoming a real problem. many animals that have passed away are because of brutal attacks from their owners. plus the number of abandoned animals is increasing putting a massive amount of strain on all those that care for them and anyway what kind of state of mind does that put the animal in if it manages to get rehomed?? image the thourghts running through their minds and how they must feel. just remember colition goverment that animals have feelings to and they must be severly damaged after their current or recent circumstances. so this is a major issue that we can all pull together on and stop. animals cant talk so were here to do it for them!!

Dog licenses should be brought back! Recently, an staffie x american pitbull was let loose on a horse, and the horse was lucky to survive. It recieved life threatening injuries, and required surgery. The dogs owner had to battle to stop his dog being put down, but this would never have happened if he had to have a license. Its never the dogs fault regarding behavioural issues.

    Wild Animals in circuses.

Wild animals should be exactly that... wild.
They should not be kept in bad conditions travelling around in carriages and performing unnatural tricks. They have no space to run and they cannot hunt like they would in the wild. They are stuck infront of a noisy audience which wouldn't be very nice for the animal, and they have to perform tricks which they shouldn't be doing.

Tigers for exmple, should either be in the wild on India etc. being taught how to hunt and fend for themselves by their mothers, or they should be in conservation areas, or breeding zoos which try to keep the numbers up. I severly disagree with any animal being keep in circuses.

Fox Hunting, can it be called a sport? Hunting at all is not necessary.

When asked why people hunt, their reply is usually, it links back with our ancestors. But, our ancestors hunted for survival, they hunted for food and fur to survive. Why must we hunt now? We have our food given to us on a plate, that is our survival; lazy but humane.

Hunting causes suffering for the prey, but gives wealthy men the small thrill of the chase.

When ever faced with this argument I cannot help but say to them; how would you feel being hunted? But their reply is always the same, sadly; Ah, but I'm not.

This past time should remain that; the past tense, and repealing the fox ban should definitely never happen.

The whole deal with the babies; what mother leaves her front door open at night?! Not any mother I know. If anything, the animals are being blamed for the lack of human common sense and logic. And it is those beneath us that suffer.

I say enough is enough, to treat all animals under our dominionship as we would wish to be under theirs!
