Caring for animals in Africa
February 2010
(This programme has already been on air).
‘The World Wild Vet’ is an exciting new TV series following Dorset vet Luke Gamble, founder of Worldwide Veterinary Services, as he travels the world treating animals in need.
In the third programme Luke visits the Lilongwe Society for the Protection and Care of Animals, in Malawi, southern Africa. LSPCA provides free veterinary treatment for dogs, cats and farm animals in the poorest communities and is supported and funded by RSPCA International.
In this episode Luke works with LSPCA’s vet Dr Richard Ssuna and their first mission is to rescue a starved dog that can hardly walk, but is still managing to care for her puppies. Emergency surgery is required and Richard’s garage proves to be an unusual operating theatre.
Please watch the programme to learn more about the fantastic work the LSPCA is doing to care for animals in Malawi.
Series started Sunday 28th February 2010, 7pm, Sky 1.
Malawi episode is 14th March 2010, 7pm, Sky 1.
